Every element of the Lion House has been designed with weddings in mind. A stylish art deco canvas equally as impressive on its own as it is sympathetic to your desired decorative details.

The site houses the original 15th century tavern, which has developed in the last decade into a successful restaurant boasting great pub-style food, utilising fresh ingredients from local farms and fishermen; an ethos which we have embedded into our wedding venue.

Our unwavering commitment to service and meticulous attention to detail offers everything you need; from fantastic food to luxury bedrooms.

With a dedicated wedding co-ordinator on hand from your initial enquiry until your evening reception, our close-knit team offer a personalised and bespoke service. The day is truly your own with every celebration tailor made and without the rigidity offered by traditional packages – come and see us about a wedding like no other!

The Grand Hall

A striking glass wall bathes the grand hall in wonderful natural light whilst providing a beautiful garden background for your ceremony and wedding breakfast. The unique interior comprises of twentieth century artwork, contemporary chandeliers and wrought-iron candelabras that give the entire room a warm and romantic feel.

When the formalities are over and speeches done, you can dance the night away on our bespoke dancefloor. We have a state of the art sound and lighting system available to your DJ which can provide you with just the atmosphere you wish.

Steel framed windows allow a great view into our bar serving area, providing unique integration between the Long Bar and our Grand Hall so your guests won’t miss a moment of your special day!

The Long Bar

As your guests enter, they cannot fail to be impressed by the long bar! A solid wooden floor, beautiful grey granite bar top and art deco lamps bring you the feel of 1920s glamour and are an elegant welcome, in the perfect location, for enjoying your reception drinks and canapes.

During the cooler months a roaring log fire at one end instantly makes your guests feel at home.

The Courtyard Garden

Step through our reclaimed vintage church gate into this private and tranquil area enhanced with the peaceful fall of water from our large slate fountain.

Planted with big splashes of colour our garden is surrounded by idyllic Essex countryside and is a wonderful setting for a relaxed summertime drinks reception, or to capture those all-important photographs to remember your day.

The Lion’s Den

The perfect setting for a small ceremony with your closest friends and family situated at the end of our Long Bar. An inviting and serene space featuring a beautiful mantlepiece, ornate chandeliers and a vaulted ceiling which combine to create a truly intimate environment.

For larger weddings this peaceful area provides a welcome retreat for those of your party looking for a few moments of calm during the evening celebrations or for those all-important catch ups during your drinks reception.
