In the heart of Kelso, a town once named the ‘most beautiful in all of Scotland’ by Sir Walter Scott, you’ll find Ednam House. Standing proudly at the end of a short driveway off Kelso town square the mellow stone Georgian mansion combines the grandeur of a country house with the convenience of a town centre location.

Set in three acres of riverside gardens, on the banks of the Tweed, Ednam House offers the perfect canvas to your wedding day. Its grand history is evident throughout: rich period detailing, ornate plasterwork ceilings, carved doors, fireplaces and stone work crafted by the finest artisans of the late 1700s. Grand yet homely, and with a warm and inviting atmosphere, you’ll find an enchanting blend of stately features, snug lounges, open fires and even an old-fashioned telephone box – perfect for some quirky wedding snaps!

Whilst the front façade of this perfectly proportioned house is reassuringly handsome, the real show stopper views are to be found at the rear of the hotel where beautiful landscaped and wild gardens run alongside the River Tweed. With panoramic views across to Floors Castle and Old Roxburgh, Ednam’s riverside gardens form a magnificent backdrop to your celebrations.

Licensed to host religious, humanist and civil ceremonies or partnerships within the hotel and private gardens - whatever you’re after, Ednam’s friendly wedding team will be happy to help you find the space that suits you best.

Tie the knot in an al fresco ceremony under our licensed gazebo and follow with an outdoor drinks’ reception and perhaps some garden games on the lawn. Or simply wander through the secret wild flower meadow area for some enchanting photo opportunities and the chance to steal a quiet moment with your newlywed.

Ednam House has a range of stylish function suites and cosy reception rooms giving you the flexibility to create exactly the kind of wedding day you’d like. The large ballroom accommodates up to 180 guests and is a decidedly elegant space to host your wedding. High ceilings, sparkling chandeliers and huge windows flood the place with daylight and with its own private entrance, a fully stocked bar and French doors which open onto our gardens overlooking the River Tweed, it’s a room with year-round appeal.

With a highly coveted AA rosette for culinary excellence, there are few better places to savour the best produce from the fields, rivers and shores of the Scottish Borders than at Ednam House. Whether you want your first meal as a married couple to be a lavish wedding breakfast, a relaxed barbecue buffet or an afternoon tea on the lawn, Ednam’s Head Chef and his experienced team will be happy to create a bespoke menu for you.

And when it’s time to retire to bed you’ll find everything you need for a perfect night’s rest and a comfortable stay in one of the 33 bedrooms. Each has been individually styled, and all feature the finest cotton bedlinen, flat screen televisions, direct-dial telephones, superfast WIFI and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. The bedrooms are available at a special rate for and your wedding guests.
