Wedding Options

We understand that every couple is unique and we want to offer you all the options possible to make your dream ceremony become a reality. You may wish to celebrate your commitment of marriage with a civil ceremony, or a humanist ceremony that can be enjoyed and celebrated wherever suits you. Alternatively, you may embrace a traditional church ceremony in our charming local parish church.

Civil Wedding Ceremony

We are a licenced civil ceremony wedding venue with two magical locations to choose from. Our stunning Grade 1 listed Lady Margaret Hall is the perfect match for your intimate ceremony that can host up to 60 people, alternatively, our Tudor brick, Henry Dene Hall is our largest and most flexible space, hosting up to 80 people for your civil ceremony.

Church Wedding Ceremony

Churches are a special and unique place to get married, they can offer centuries of history and outstanding beauty. St Swithun’s Church, in the village of Hempstead, stands on a small hill and is located less than a mile from the Priory. It provides Church of England wedding services and blessings, by arrangement with the Rector. If you are interested in holding your ceremony at St Swithun’s Church, followed by a reception at the Priory, we can provide you with a church contact and some basic information upon request.

Humanist Wedding Ceremony

A humanist ceremony is not a legally binding marriage. It is a non-religious ceremony, conducted by a trained humanist celebrant. It differs from a civil wedding, giving you full flexibility to marry wherever you choose and focus on what is important to you as a couple. A humanist celebrant can marry you anywhere, this could be in the ruins of our Tithe Barn, beside the canal wharf, inside our Medieval halls or anywhere within our grounds of your choice.
